How the academic community is contributed to increased stress levels in students

To begin with, it is clear to everyone that the events of 2020 have led to uncertain and unprecedented times. Americans are scrimmaging to pick up the pieces of lost loved ones or lost projects, but it is not just adults who feel anxious about it all, our children feel it, too. Add increased academic stress to the rapid changes caused by the pandemic and we can only imagine the toll this year is taking on our children’s mental health.

Besides, the pandemic, there are many other reasons why children can be so stressed. Full schedules and responsibilities, relentless media overload, and less sleep are examples of our children’s stressors. One of the most undeniable reasons kids are stressed is the demands in the academic field.

Technology one of the many factors that leads to academic pressure

Although, not a new problem, children are experiencing academic pressure from an earlier age than ever before. In addition to the pressure to succeed, technology has also changed the way children engage with schoolwork, instructors, and peers.

Subsequently, whether kids are studying remotely at home or in the classroom, academic stress still affects them. No, however, more than ever we need to address how typical academic stress affects mental health. For this, it is also important to examine how digital learning has affected traditional academic stress.

Meanwhile, academic stress and its impact on mental health is a well-researched topic. Research shows that academic stress leads to lower well-being and an increased likelihood of developing anxiety or depression. In addition, students who experience academic stress tend to perform poorly in school. This shows how this stress can prevent children from doing as well as they could.

Research suggests that students will have better mental health if they are given aid

 Moreover, research also suggests that

students will have better mental health if they are given help or better academically.

With technology comes new challenges that increase the pressure on education. Especially in the more virtual environment that COVID-19 requires under certain circumstances. There is still much to watch and know. Instead of just learning how to solve math problems, kids have to solve WiFi connection problems or other technology problems. If the page reloaded and their work was lost, which may be the case for many of us, it could be a problem completing key tasks.

In conclusion, if there were problems with asking questions to teachers when presenting the material, children could try to find answers online later. These contribute to stress.
