Are we becoming too focused on the news that does not matter?

Indian journalism has degraded ever since there has been a virtual suppression of free voices. The level of journalism has fallen from bad to worst and is now being focused on things that hardly matter. Indian journalism has been criticized by foreign media, now daily. There was a time when Prime Time was focused on topics of national importance. As of now, it is dedicated to the marriage ceremony of two celebrities.
Not only the shameless depiction of petty news, but Indian journalism has also stooped very low with its intention to propagate government propaganda. Today, most media houses are directly or indirectly under the influence of the current whose rigorous use of UAPA and other seditious laws have made us clear about its take on freedom of speech and criticism.
The shift of the media journalism
It is straightforward to falsely propagate news without even justifying its credibility in today’s time. The use of media for fraudulent purposes has made it clear that the media houses and journalism is no more the fourth pillar of our constitution. Media is used to falsely narrate events that someone wants us to see and believe in.
Say, for example, there are thousands of national importance events that genuinely need media coverage but unfortunately get none of it. The news in the North-eastern belt of India is often left to remain unimportant for the mainstream mass. We are consuming junk news and spending hours reading them, affecting actual journalism.
Who is to be blamed?
Honestly speaking, no one! No one is blameable for the condition of such degraded journalism in India. Firstly, the audience consumes such junk news, thus creating more demand for such junk news. But this can only be changed if we start ignoring the unimportant information and spend time online reading articles online that matter!
