Generally, the term “brain drain” initially found its relevance in Great Britain as one of the factors that had seriously endangered the British economy, later had found its relevance in post-colonial India. There was a dire need for innovative minds cruising a skilled workforce and hauling up the infant Indian economy. Instead, there was a surge in Indians leaving the soil and going abroad for better livelihood and work opportunities and not returning to their homeland. There was a ray of hope when the economic reforms in 1991 brought in several multinational companies and foreign investments.

Subsequently, the Indian brain drain has many negative repercussions that can affect the economy. These include loss of tax revenue, potential future entrepreneurs, and a shortage of essential and skilled workers. The departure of which may lead to the loss of belief of the general mass in their home country’s economy, which will further ignite their desire to leave the homeland rather than stay. 
Therefore, it will lead to the loss of innovative ideas and overall affect the country’s investment in education, ultimately leading to the loss of critical health and education services due to a lack of talent overhauls. 
Possible restorative ways to curb the Indian brain drain 
For example, Villages form the soul of proper and practical development in India. The ‘Young India’ wants to contribute to the nation’s progress, but the issues crop up when opportunities are inadequate. There can be various employment possibilities developed in education, women upliftment, agriculture, and handicrafts, where highly skilled and talented youth can contribute to the development and earn an adequate income through their contribution.
