Culture minister Shripad Nayak informed the Lok Sabha that some performing art forms from Eastern UP are declining in globalization due to changing lifestyles and means of livelihood and shift to some western means of popular entertainment.
He also said that the tribal dancers of Mirzapur and Eastern UP are becoming rare to find. “The reason is that they are not very remunerative, and practitioners are gradually decreasing this time”, he said. Ministers must organize the holding of international fairs or ‘mela’ and implement them to showcase India’s culture and rich heritage in its blooms.
