Corona cases have spread like wildfire in recent days. People all over India are in a state of panic because of these incidents. As with the situations that happened earlier in 2019 and caused harm to many individuals and their families in all aspects of life. As the daily coverage has crossed with 1,000 for the first time after two months, over 9,000 doses have been administered in the past four days.
According to the data shared by BBMP officials, over 13.4 lakh precautionary doses have been administered. The recipients include nearly 1 lakh healthcare workers, 1.4 lakh frontline workers, 3.9 lakh senior citizens, and 7 lakh adults in the age group of 18-59.
From Friday to Monday, 9,138 vaccine doses were administered in Bangalore. On Saturday itself, probably 4,044 doses were given to the people. According to the BBMP chief health officer, Dr. AS Balasundar, September was the last month when the daily doses crossed 1,000 numbers. This was during the Pan-India drive between July 15 and September 30. Following that, vaccination drives were not as well attended as they are now.
On December 19th, 2022, only, 28 people took the vaccine doses, as the numbers touched 319 on December 22nd, 2022. The daily coverage ranged between 20 and 350 people, with the latter showing a lack of interest. Balasundar attributed the poor coverage to the COVID situations that might have created hesitance among the citizens. He also said that the BF.7 variant has raised fear of another wave of infections, so the BBMP is focusing on increasing coverage.
The BBMP commissioner, Dr. Trilok Chandra, told that daily vaccination coverage will be increased. About 1.2 lakh doses are set to expire by the end of January, and the numbers have come down.
