Delhi experiences efflux in Covid cases

To begin with, Delhi has been experiencing a sudden efflux in Covid-19 cases which have given rise to the conjecture of a fourth wave. Meanwhile, in the last 10 days, the capital registered 19,760 Covid cases and 40 contamination-related casualties. 
Besides, the chairman of the Centre’s Covid Task Operation, Dr. NK Arora, has informed, that the variants of Omicron coursing in Delhi currently are more infectious than the base strain that had been detected earlier in January. 
New sub-variants are more infectious 
Subsequently, Dr. Arora has further retorted that the effectiveness of the shots has also deducted greatly to 20-30 percent. Meanwhile, he also stated to NDTV that the current strains doing the rounds in Delhi like the sub-variations of Omicron B5 and B2 are 20 to 30 percent more infectious than the base Omicron variant.

Delhi reports 2,146 new cases

Still, the total number of cases recorded during the August 1-10 period stands at 19,769. The positivity rate of Coronavirus cases in Delhi has also risen up to an alarming 18%. Moreover, Delhi witnessed 1,372 infections and six deaths on August 8 with a positivity rate of 17.85%, the highest since January 21, as per the data. On January 21, the positivity rate stood at 18.04%.
Specifically, the Delhi authorities on 11 August, made using of masks mandatory in all public places. The government was also directed to impose a fine of rupees 500 on people for not adorning masks.
