Bhubaneswar- India’s first 100% vaccinated city
Odisha’s capital Bhubaneswar became the first city in India to be 100% vaccinated. This city achieved its vaccination target.
On 31st July 2021 Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) declared that Bhubaneswar city achieved its vaccination target and became the first Indian 100% vaccinated city. All the eligible people in the city have taken full vaccination (two doses).
Odisha state achieved so many things this month. Bhubaneswar became the first 100% vaccinated city, Puri is the first city to supply 24×7 drinking water, and the Odisha government is sponsoring the National men and women hockey team since 2018.
The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation gave a target to the administrator for 18 lakh doses in Bhubaneswar by the end of July. The target is based on 2011 census population data.
As of 2nd August 2021, 18,77,178 vaccination doses administered. 5.17 lakh doses to 18-44 age and 3.25 lakh doses to above 45 years. From nearby cities 2 lakh people vaccinated
In order to achieve this target, the administration adopted some strategies like identifying priority populations which includes health care workers, then frontline workers, people above the age of 60 years and lastly age between 18-44 years.
Further the administration targeted people who interacted with many peoples in a day like cab and auto drivers, and delivery boys.
However To make the work easier, govt set up a total 55 immunization centers. Moreover Among this 30 primary health centers and community centers, 10 drive-in facilities in closed malls, parkings, stadiums, etc. 15 mobile centers for those who don’t know how to book slots.
The administration also set up special sessions on Cowin platform through a caretaker. This caretaker booked slots for people from slum areas, beggars, mental disorders, those who don’t have homes, etc.using their ID.
