A new alliance formed between India, Israel, the United States of America, and the UAE is presently making its way into the headlines. Not based on simply religion or ideologies, the alliance, named I2U2, stands apart from the rest.
The first-ever meeting of I2U2 took place in July 2022 where India’s Prime minister Narendra Modi joined US President Joe Biden, and Israeli Prime minister Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in a virtual meeting and the leaders pledged to work towards areas of common and mutual interests. The concept of I2U2 was proposed in a meeting of the country’s foreign ministers last year. The group will strive to leverage areas of the public sector with economic benefits and cooperation.
The objective of the I2U2
The alliance will primarily focus on joint investments. These will be made in areas of mutual importance, some of which include water, energy, food and security, health, and the list goes on. Alliances have been made over time among countries, wherein some of them have set examples of enhanced cooperation in supporting the cause of the coalition. Some of them have also become redundant over time and are non-functional. The I2U2 is expected to function keeping in mind the needs and demands of all 4 countries.
Its geopolitical implications
The effective functioning of the I2U2 will enable the US to re-establish and maintain its ties with the middle east. It will also deepen the political ties of India with the middle eastern countries. Moreover, the India and US partnership would become more strong and stabilized and increase beyond the Asian interests. It will serve as an opportunity to deepen India’s ties with the US beyond Asia.
Initially, the leaders from the countries discussed the food security crisis and the availability and optimum utilization of clear energy resources. Integrated food parks across the streets and ground-breaking climate change technologies and counter solutions were discussed. The country heads working together will revolutionize the public problems with smart solutions.
