Today, a blast inside a court building in Ludhiana, Punjab, killed one person and badly injured five others. The incident was carried out to disrupt peace and order in the city ahead of the assembly elections, according to Chief Minister Charanjit Channi.

Mr Singh had expressed concerns about the threat of Pakistan-backed terror forces to the state as Chief Minister earlier this year. He had requested 25 Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) companies and anti-drone devices for the Border Security Force (BSF) to protect the state.
