Sourav Ganguly Tests Positive for COVID-19

As the highly-infectious omicron variety sweeps through the packed nation of approximately 1.4 billion people, India may experience a spike in Covid-19 growth rate within days, ushering in an intense but short-lived viral wave.
In an email, Paul Kattuman, professor at the Judge Business School at the University of Cambridge, who established a Covid-19 India tracker, commented, “It is likely that India will have a time of exponential growth in daily cases and that the intensive growth phase would be quite short.”
The Celebrity Cricketer’ Infection
Sourav Ganguly, the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and a former India captain, has been hospitalized in a city hospital after testing positive for COVID-19. However, the medical institution receiving treatment announced on Tuesday that he is “stable.”
After his RT-PCR test came back positive on Monday evening, Ganguly, double-vaccinated, was transported to Woodlands Hospital as a precautionary measure.
Ganguly, 49, had an emergency angioplasty earlier this year, and a panel of specialists is keeping a close eye on his health situation, considering his background.
In a statement, Dr Rupali Basu, MD & CEO of Woodlands Hospital, said, “He underwent Monoclonal Antibody Cocktail therapy the same night and is today haemodynamically stable.”
“A medical board comprised of Dr Saroj Mondal, Dr Saptarshi Basu, and Dr Soutik Panda keeps a close eye on his health status in consultation with Dr Devi Shetty and Dr Aftab Khan,” Dr Basu added.
Ganguly has travelled extensively and participated in all aspects of his profession. Early this year, Snehasish, his older brother, tested positive for COVID.
