Is technology taking over emotions and self-expression?

Is technology taking over emotions and self-expression?

Technology has progressed fast in the past few years and has grown to become a crucial part of our everyday lives. Machines and devices used by us humans have been put into use for one of the other needs. We are continuously interacting with technology and are attaining uninterrupted connectivity. However, over the past years, researchers and scientists have started to question the impact that technology has on humanity. The way our reliance on technology in doing daily chores is increasing could be solid proof that technology is changing us and our habits, both physically and mentally.

How is technology making us lonely?

Technology has changed the way we connect and talk with people. Nowadays, kids falter at grammar and studies show that most of them only text. This reflects their knowledge of the language. Digital screens have increased in number and nearly 90 percent of the world population use mobile phones. Studies show that increased access to technology bars us from making personal and emotional connections with people. People have lost patience and one of the greatest examples is the way we constantly reach out to our smartphones whenever there’s even a little bit of free time. With technology, people’s everyday life seems to move faster, which has also led to the loss of time for self-realization and thinking. People have become isolated from each other which has led to stress and insecurity and the loss of human touch has led to people being deprived of emotions.

How can technology itself be a solution?

Technology cannot fulfill every social need of an individual. It helps us discover and recognize new horizons, connect with people from any part of the globe and act as a foundational step in establishing connections.
Technology is one of the most powerful tools. However, instead of complete dependence, one should keep in mind that the line between intrusive technology and supportive technology should not be blurred. Only controlled usage for better measures will do the trick.
